HITCHCOCK.--The Rev. Dr. Luke Hitchcock of Chicago, who is well known to the Methodist Episcopal Church, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Archer Brown, in East Orange, New Jersey. He was eighty-six years of age, and his death was due to his advanced years. He was born in Lebanon, New York and from there went to Chicago in 1842, becoming prominent in Methodist Church work. He was a member of the firm of Hitchcock & Walden of Cincinnati, Ohio, publishers of church literature, for about twenty years. Rev. Bishop Charles H. Fowler is his son-in-law. The funeral will take place in Chicago on Wednesday.
