Gale Elizabeth Simpson, 66, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at her home.
Born April 11, 1943, in Daisy, Ky., she was the daughter of Robert and Wreva (Bowman) Cornette. She married John D. Simpson on May 30, 1998, and he survives.

Other survivors include her children, Beth Anne Piercefield, Mary Ellen Jarrard and Jack Andrew Piercefield, all of Columbus; sister, Shirley Kirby of North Vernon; three brothers; grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Turner, Jonathan David Turner, Whitney Gail Piercefield, Allison Lee Piercefield, Brenny Paige Jarrard and Sydney Jarrard; and great-grandsons, Carson Robert Lee Turner and Keegan Michael Keith Tempest. She also leaves her four dogs and seven cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Piercefield.

Mrs. Simpson was a friend of Bill W.

She worked as a respiratory therapist until her retirement.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sarah Brown officiating.

The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service in Shelbyville with the Rev. Sarah Brown officiating. Cremation will follow. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
