KURE BEACH, N.C. - Roy C. Haught, 87, of Kure Beach, N.C., and formerly of Veterans Boulevard, Chester, died on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at the home of his daughter.
A son of the late William and Lennie Howard Haught, Roy was born on June 1, 1922, in Middlebourne, W.Va.
He worked 47 years as a machinist at the former TS&T pottery and later at Anchor Hocking Pottery in Chester.
Roy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester and also the American Legion and VFW in Chester, where he enjoyed meeting friends. He also enjoyed his hunting trips to the mountains of southern West Virginia.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the European theater during World War II.
His wife, Edith Haught, and a son, William Haught, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter with whom he resided, Joyce Wright and her husband Rich, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
