Louis Byron Herder: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Oregonian, The (Portland, OR) - Sunday, January 6, 2002 Deceased Name: Louis Byron Herder A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, Va., for Louis Byron Herder, who died Jan. 1 at age 76.

Mr. Herder was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Portland. He graduated from Jefferson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He later was in the Naval Investigative Service until retiring as regional director of the Philippines office in 1979. He moved to San Diego in 1968 and later lived in Alexandria and the Philippines, until returning to Alexandria after retirement. He was a deacon and choir member in the church. In 1949, he married Gloria Liddy.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Sara H. Borders and Suzanne E. Herder; son, Stuart C.; sisters, Frances Sinner, Genevieve Miller and Eloise Matlack; brothers, Wallace and Peter; and two grandchildren.
