According to his death certificate, he was a son of Green Thomas and Indiana J. (Smith) Thomas. He married (1) Katherine Lillian "Kate" Gallagher, a daughter of James Thompson "Joseph" Gallagher and Mary Emma (Knight) Gallagher, 12 Feb 1910 in Monrovia, Los Angeles, California. She died in the influenza epidemic 28 Apr 1918 in Monrovia. He married (2) Cozzetta M. "Dolly" Perdue, a daughter of John Allen Purdue and Jennie F. (Anderson) Perdue, between 1923 - 1925 in Florida. He enlisted in the U. S. Army twice. First, from 15 Jan 1900 to 14 Jan 1903 where he served with the 1st Inf. Regiment. He was discharged at Laguan, Samar, Phillipine Islands. He enlisted second 15 July 1917 to 19 Jul 1919. He served in Company E, 117th Supply Train during World War I.
