Married...At Annapolis, Md., on the 30th ult., by the Rev. Mr. McIlheny, Mr. James G. Berret, of Carrol county, Md. to Miss Julia W., only daughter of the late John W. Bordley of the former place.” ("Sun," (Baltimore, MD), October 5, 1840, v. 7, issue: 121, p. 2)

“DEATH OF MRS. BERRET. Was for Many Years a Leader of Washington Society. Mrs. Julia Wright Berret, wife of Col. James G. Berret, whose serious illness had been noted in The Star, died last night. Mrs. Berret was born in Annapolis, Md., November 28, 1820, and was the only child of John W. Bordley, a prominent lawyer and resident of that town. In 1840 she was married to Col. Berret and has since resided in this city. Both in her youth and middle age she was greatly admired for her beauty and intellectual gifts, and her home was one of the most prominent in the west end for many years. Failing health of late had caused her gradual retirement from social life, but the last three years complete invalidism were cheered by the devoted ministrations of her husband and her legions of friends.

“Mrs. Berret has been for over fifty years a member of St. Matthew’s Church, and actively interested in all its parish and charitable work. The funeral will take place from that church Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock and the interment will be private.” ("Evening Star," (Washington, DC), January 9, 1899, p. 10)
