A 1980 graduate of New Castle Senior High School, he began his 21-year military career in the Air Force as an Imagery Analyst, and retired from military service in October, 2001. He received an Associate degree in Intelligence Analysis in 1992 from the Community College of the Air Force, and also received the "Eagle Eye" award by the Air Force Association. He was recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation and Air Force Achievement medals. After his military retirement, he worked as an Intelligence Systems Engineer for SRA International, Inc.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management in 1994 from Saint Leo University where he graduated summa cum laude. He was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Husband of Idola Eliza (Henry) Gunn, whom he married in 2002 in Chantilly, VA.
He is also survived by their daughter, Sydni; his mother, Bette (Bailey) Gunn; sister and brother-in-law, Leslie & Gordon Austin, Sr., nieces, Lindsay, Jennifer, & Jessica Austin; nephew, Gordon Austin, Jr.; aunts, Helen Jones & Elizabeth Gunn; his father-in-law, Edward Henry, and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, A.C. Gunn.
Graveside services were conducted with full military honors on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
