BIRTH: Tombstone says born 1889, but 1900 Census records shows born Nov 1887, and FreeBMD says Name: Alice Miriam Benson; Year of Registration: 1887; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: Ecclesall Bierlow; County: Derbyshire, Yorkshire - West Riding; Volume: 9c; Page: 400.

TRAVELS: Emigrated with her mother to America, on the S.S. Indiana, leaving Liverpool, England, 9 October 1895 and arriving in Philadelphia, PA, 23 October, when she was 7 years old. They were met by their step-grandfather, Mark Tingle, and stayed with him and their grandmother in Chester, PA.

Personally appeared before me Eber L. Dannaker Jr. who hereby requests the Clerk of Orphans' Court, for the said County, to issue a License for the Marriage of himself to Alice Miriam Benson and who, being duly affirmed according to law, doth depose and say that he was born in Chester, Pa. on the 26th day of Sept. A.D. 1886; that he resides at Knowlton, Pa; that he is by occupation Moulder, that he is not related by blood or marriage to the person whom he desires to marry, that he has not been married before, that Alice Miriam Benson whom he is about to marry was born in Sheffield, Eng., on the ?th day of Nov. A.D. 1886; that she resides at Knowlton, Pa., that she has not been married before, that he knows of no reason why said marriage may not be lawfully made.
