Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Howell A. Swift, 59, whose last assignment was with the 552nd Engineer Co., with the Army forces in Europe, died Monday in Walter Reed Army Hospital, of cancer. He lived on Bede Place in Alexandria.
Swift’s decorations included the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters. He served in the Army for more than 20 years before his retirement in 1963.
He was born in Moundsville, W. Va.
He leaves his wife, Mary W., and three sisters.
