When Hattie was nine years old, her family moved from Canada to Sanilac County, Michigan. On September 10, 1907 she wed Frank Wilson, a union that lasted 56 years and produced nine children: Russell (1909), Pauline (1911), Wendell Howard (1913), Jean (1916), Maribelle (1918), Helen (1920), Frank, Jr. (1922), Donna (1924), and William (1927). Hattie died October 21, 1966 and was buried at Fremont Cemetery, north of Roseburg in Sanilac County.
