A native of St. Louis, Dr. Daake received his bachelor's and medical degrees from St. Louis University in the early 1940s.
He was later drafted as a physician in the Army and served in World War II.
In the 1950s, he opened a private practice in St. Louis. Dr. Daake served as a general surgeon for more than 20 years before he retired in 1976 due to eye problems.
In retirement, Dr. Daake managed several real estate properties in his spare time.
Dr. Daake served as chief of staff at St. Anthony's Medical Center and was on the staff at the former Alexian Brothers Hospital. He was also a member of the American Medical Association.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmeister Colonial Chapel, 6464 Chippewa Street. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica, 4431 Lindell Boulevard. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Bardelmeyer Daake of St. Louis; three sons, John William Daake of Sunset Hills, James Thomas Daake of Creve Coeur and Thomas O'Toole Daake of St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.
