The funeral of Horace Hammond, 58, of Country Club Road, Redmont, who died in St. Vincent's Hospital Thursday, will take place in the Church of the Advent at 3 p.m. Friday, burial following in Elmwood Cemetery.

At the time of his death he was president of the Alabama By-Products Corporation, one of the largest coal mining and coke producing companies in the South, and the Hammond Iron Company, and was connected with other industrial corporations, and a director in the First National Bank.

He came to Birmingham from his native Shelby County in early manhood and from then until his death was actively identified with industrial affairs of the district.

Surviving are the widow, who prior to their marriage in New York in 1921, was Miss Catherine Kirkman, and a daughter, Catherine, who is attending school in Washington.
