One of the few African Americans to serve as an officer during the First World War, E. Champ Warrick earned bachelor's degrees from both Wilberforce University and the University of Wisconsin. He later earned a master's degree from the Ohio State University. He served briefly as director of the National Urban League's office in East St. Louis, IL. For many years Professor Warrick served Wilberforce and Central State Universities in a variety of capacities, including Director of Athletics and on the Secondary Education faculty. As a graduate assistant, he helped establish the Wilberforce University chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He was also a member of the Sigma Pi Phi boule and American Legion.
