"Chet" was the son of Charles Ira and Dollie Pearl Pennell Mosteller. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, one of his hunting partners was Leonard Sly, later a member of "The Sons of the Pioneers" singing group. During the depression, he did work as a motorcycle mechanic, and had his own chicken and egg business.
He was a hoseman with the Hawthorne Volunteer Fire Department, Hawthorne, Los Angeles County, California.
Chet was married to Lillian Bell Denney, and they had two children; Dolores Fay and Arthur Charles Mosteller.
He died while in a diabetic coma, and is buried next to his son, Arthur Charles Mosteller.
