He loved fishing, going to Wendover, dancing and everything about his daughter. He and Athena would go to the old Terrace Ball room in Salt Lake and go dancing every week.
Lowell died from an industrial accident welding for US Steel while working on a job in Denver, Colorado. His supervisor had put a can of paint thinner next to where the welding was being done. He spent six weeks in Denver General Hospital before passing away. He loved the mountains so his body was flown back to Salt Lake where he could be buried here.
He is buried near other family members, Athena's daughter, Joni, a few feet from Athena and her mother Pearl Gritton Spetsas.
