Iven was the son of George Benjamin and Grace Agnes Howe Hensley. He married Bernice Compere 15 June 1923, Abiline, TX. They have one daughter, Betty Lynn Bradfield.
Iven H. Hensley and his daughter, Miss Betty Lynn Hensley, received degrees together Saturday, August 27, at the close of the University summer school. (University of Colorado at Boulder) This is believed to be the first time that a father and daughter have been members of the same class. Several mothers and daughters have graduated together in past years. Mr. Hensley will receive his doctorate in education. He is an associate professor of educational psychology at the Stephen F. Austin State Teachers college, Nacogdoches, Texas. Mr. Hensley had previously received his master's degree from the University. His undergraduate work was done at Abilene Christian College at Abilene, Texas. While in the latter he rated honors of the "A" Club and membership in two honorary fraternities, Phi Delta and Kappa Pi. Before accepting his present position at Nacogdoches, Mr. Hensley had taught at Texarkana, Arkansas, Jermyn, Jacksboro, Meridan, Texas public schools at Rusk, Texas senior high school at Texarkana, Arkansas, public schools, Texas State Home for Dependent Children, at Waco, Texas; Amache, Colorado and at the University of Colorado. Miss Hensley is a graduate of Boulder high school. At the University she has been a member of both the marching and concert bands, Women's club, and Valkyrie. She will receive a bachelor's degree in sociology.
