He graduated from Windsor High School in 1948. He lived in Claremont for the last thirty six years. He was a member of the Windsor National Guard Company G 172nd Infantry. He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co in Windsor, VT for a short while. He later taught music and repair of instruments, mostly accordion and guitar. In the late 1950's, he began the Whitcomb's School of Music and later began the Whitcomb's Music Center in Claremont. He also later played in the Don Whitcomb combo which played many consecutive years at the Hanover Inn on New Year's Eve. He enjoyed working on historical projects and was involved in the Downtown Revitalization Project of Claremont.
He married Vivian Ruth Norris on July 23, 1949 in Windsor, VT but they later divorced on March 5, 1963.
He married Evelyn Marie (Wright) Blackburn on July 30, 1967 in Claremont
He was predeceased by brother Robert Whitcomb.
Surviving are his wife, aka "Lady Eve" of Claremont; two daughters Bonnie J Wreden of Exeter, NH and Karen S Bishop of Lake Carmel, NY; three sons Donald A Whitcomb and Aaron G Whitcomb both of Claremont and Keven Whitcomb of St Petersburg, FL; six grandchildren; his mother of Windsor, VT; and brother Douglas G Whitcomb of Windsor, VT.
Burial is in Union cemetery.
