LOUISE JOHNSON JACOBUS, 95, died peacefully on Friday, the 26th of March 2010.

Louise was born in San Antonio, Texas on the 23rd of October 1914 to the late Marvin Thornton Johnson and Freda Graham Johnson.

Her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Louise graduated from Tulsa Central High School at the age of sixteen. She attended two years at the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

She married David William Jacobus in August 5, 1933 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Louise and "Jake" resided in Ponca City, Oklahoma for twenty four years.

They lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for one and a half years and, in 1959, moved to Houston. Louise and Jake were active members of St. Michael Catholic Church; where they celebrated fifty years of marriage before Jake's death in January of 1984.

After Jake's death, Louise continued to live a full life. She was happy to wake up to each new day. She was an avid card player, who loved to play poker with "the girls" on Saturdays. She was a long standing member of St. Michael's Movers and Shakers exercise class.

Louise also loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Each family member had their favorite birthday cake. Louise lived life to the fullest until the Lord called her home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Louise is preceded in death by her son, the late David William Jacobus, Jr. She is survived by her children, Mary C. Jacobus of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Patrick J. Jacobus of Del Rio, Texas; and Charles J. Jacobus and wife, Jeanne. Louise leaves behind grandchildren, Anne Jacobus Engelbrecht, John Jacobus, Catherine Jacobus, David W. Jacobus, III and wife, Denise; Charles J. Jacobus, Jr. and wife, Yvette; and Mary Helen Jacobus and husband, Jason Jones; and great-grandchildren, Brandy Garcia, Andrew Jacobus, Edward Jacobus, and Jackson Engelbrecht.

The family desires to gratefully acknowledge Life Solutions Hospice, and all of Louise's nurses and caregivers at the Treemont Health Care, where she lived the last two and a half years of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 30th day of March, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Christopher Nguyen, Parochial Vicar, is to serve as the celebrant.

The interment will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.

Louise loved children, and in lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that donations in Louise's name be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
