Noah Levi Gadd Sr. was born in August 1898 in Mercer County, W.Va., a son of Powell Wade Gadd and wife Emma Melissa Martin Gadd. Mr. Gadd's birth record has 10 Aug as his birthday but his obituary and a marriage record have 6 Aug.

He died on 19 Jun 1967 in Cabell County, Huntington, W.Va. His obituary was in the Post-Herald, Beckley, W.Va., on 21 June 21 1967, Page 11.

According to a family member, he was a hard-working man – a laborer and a farmer. Noah and first wife Beatrice Gore had a farm at Talcott, W.Va. He loved to buy land and at one time had around 300 acres. There were orchards and a dairy with 20 cows. He cleared the land and worked in timber. Off the farm, he worked on the C & O Railroad, on construction of Bluestone Dam* in Summers County, W.Va., at Alloy, W.Va., and at Radford Powder** in Virginia during World War II. His death certificate says he was in the construction business.

Mr. Gadd came from a large family – Powell and Emma had 11 children – and had a large family. He had 18 children.

Noah visited frequently with his sisters Stella Gadd Vest and Annie Gadd (Hatcher) Turner. He always had a big smile and his sisters seemed glad to see their brother. More about his parents and siblings is online at West Virginia Memories, Gadd Page 2: http://wva.homestead.com/Gadd-page-2.html
