Catherine grew up in Nebraska where her brother and sisters thought of her as their second mother. She made it her job to take care of the kids.
While in her teens Catherine moved with her family to California where she graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield and began working for the phone company. After college she worked as a night nurse at Napa State Hospital for many years until she and her husband Tony moved to Oregon.
Catherine doted on her son Chris and remained close with him her entire life. She adored her three grandsons, sending photos and letters about them to her family and friends.
In 2010 Catherine briefly lived with her sister Enola and they both enjoyed the loving reunion. Soon Catherine's rapidly deteriorating medical condition required her to move back to a 24 hour facility.
In Catherine's later years she was looked in on and assisted by her dear friend Teresita, who was invaluable in Catherine's final days. Other friends are Susie, neighbors from her mobile home park and many people from her local church.
Teresita saw to it Catherine's urn was taken to the Assisted Living Center where Catherine spent her final days and a funeral mass was celebrated so those who knew her there would be able to attend. This service was held May 1, 2010 @ 9:30 a.m.
From there the pastor took the urn and lead a small service at the grave site, attended by Catherine's friends & parishioners of the local parish, La Pine Holy Redeemer.
Teresita signed the papers for Catherine to be placed next to her husband Anthony Bargas where she now rests.
Catherine was a dear sweet lady. She loved her son and grandsons. She was close to her niece Sally and she was kind to all she met.
