Mary Stewart, 82, of Wayland, died Friday, Nov. 8, 1991, in Keokuk Area Hospital. Mary Margaret Stewart was born Dec. 19, 1908, near St. Patrick, a daughter of Franklin and Lillie Bick Riney. She married Patrick Ellison Sept. 4, 1929, at St. Patrick. He died July 9, 1937. She then married Veldie (Doc) Stewart Dec. 14, 1946, in Kahoka. He died Jan. 28, 1971. Mrs. Stewart had lived and farmed near Ballard, later moving to Wyaconda, and for the past 13 years lived in Wayland Senior Housing. She was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society and had attended St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kahoka.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald Cackley of Keokuk, and Mrs. John Hollow of Clio, Mich.; a son, Francis Ellison of LaGrange; one step son, Robert Stewart of Alexandria; one sister, Josephine Wade of Quincy; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services were held Monday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Kurwicki. Burial was in Wyaconda Cemetery.
