Markie Maton was born to Maudie Lee LANDRUM and Maton Hale THOMPSON. Lawrence Leo was born 19 April, 1909. Markie Maton was born 30 Sept. 1910, Before 1912 they moved to Kiefer, Creek, OK. Here another son was born Virdie V. 'Curly' 19 Jan 1912. . Markie's mother died four months later in 1912. Leaving Maton with 3 small sons to raise alone. Maton was a farmer and baby son went to live with his Maton's sister Rosa. Maton build a box on the plow so Markie and Lawrence could ride back and forth when he plowed the fields. Maton married Jessie Goforth in 1914 and two more children was born Delbert Dale and Oma Odessa. Jessie & Maton was divorced in 1923, she took Odessa and went to NE. This again left Maton with four little sons to raise alone. Lawrence and Markie went to work with his dad in the oil fields at a very early age. Markie married Edith Alma Alspaw 05 March 1931 in Methodist Church in Beggs, OK. They had three sons and a daughter, Chris. Markie worked in the oil fields and farmed. The family lived on several different farms before he bought one, all in the Okmulgee County. Markie lived to see all of his grandchildren born and also all Chris's grandchildren born. Markie died suddenly on 03 March 1986 at home on his farm west of Beggs. He is buried in the Beggs Cemetery at Beggs, OK.
