Bessie Clark, 87, of Canton died Sunday, Dec 9, 1984, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, where she had been a patient since Dec. 1. Bessie Elizabeth Clark was born in Clark County Jan 27, 1897, a daughter of John E and Julia Hess Baker. She married Earl G Clark Aug. 10, 1921, in Wayland. He died Aug 16, 1963. Mrs Clark was a former teacher in the Clark County grade school and was a member of the Cententary United Methodist Church and the WSCS. Survivors include four sons, Clifford of St Francisville, John of St Louis, Wayne of Canton, and James of Independence; six daughters, Mary Walden of Las Vegas, Nev., Marjorie Selb of Vincennes, Ind., Frances Clark of Hillsboro, Marguerete Entzeroth of St Louis, Dorothy Gorrell of Canton and Marilyn Clark of Denver, Colo; a sister, Mrs John Clark of Monticello; 33 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, a sister, two half brothers, and a great grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the Davis Funeral Chapel in Canton, conducted by the Rev Eloise Marx Shoults. Music was provided by Mrs Ruth Ayers at the organ. Pall bearers were grandsons: Dale Clark, Mike Clark, Kirby Clark, Steve Clark, Jim Gorrell and Junior Gorrell. Honorary pallbearers were David Clark, Kevin Clark, Danny Clark, Nathan Clark, Robert Clark, David Clark, Mathew Clark, Jeffrey Clark, Douglas Clark, Charles F Selb, Eric Entzeroth, Loren Gorrell and Greg Entzeroth, also grandsons. Memorials may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church.
