Augusta Mae Kells Buddenhagen was born Aug. 19, 1905 in Garden City, Finney County, Kansas. She was the fifth child and first daughter of William Alonzo and Dorothy Pauline "Lena" Degenhart Kells. When she was about six years old the family moved to Labette County, Kansas. She attended Union School. After high school, she attended Mrs. Patrick's Business College in Altamont. She worked for the Red Cross in Parsons before her marriage to William Charles Buddenhagen. They were married Dec. 19, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri. They resided in Osawatomie, Kansas, where she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's Oldsmobile dealership and later for Mode O'Day, a garment factory. She was the mother of one child, Sandra Ilene, and had three grandchildren. She was a very active member of the Methodist Church and a volunteer for the Senior Citizen Center. She died at her home in Osawatomie at the age of 92.
