Elizabeth Rosato D'Amato was born in Toritto, Bari, Puglia, Italy July 31, 1875 to Gerardo and Maria Constanza Toto Rosato.

She married Damiano D'Amato in Toritto. They had
3 children who died at birth: twin sons named Rocco and Gerardo and Gerardo.
Five living sons:
Rocco D'Amato;
Gerardo [Gerald] D'Amato;
Anthony (Tony) D'Amato;
Constantine (Cus) D'Amato
Nicholas (Nick) D'Amato.

Elizabeth was tall, blonde hair with blue/hazel eyes. She looks stern in the photograph, but not according to those who knew her. Everyone thought she was a kind, loving and compassionate mother and wife.

Damiano was very much in love with her. He used to play the mandolin for her...(mandolin music included in the image section.) He read romantic novels to her acting out all the character parts. She died at the young age of 38. Cause of death: Pleuro-Pneumonia.

To you, my dearest Grandmother
I give thanks
While there yet remains the
time for giving thanks-
That through you
I now live and know
The boundless joy
there is in living.
You left your native country
to start a new life,
And we, your descendants,
are humbly grateful.
I carry your name, your genes and heritage proudly.
Your loving granddaughter,
Geraldine Elizabeth D'Amato Olbermann
