US Congressman from Virginia. Born near Charlotte Court House in Charlotte County, he was admitted to the bar in 1802 and set up law practice in his hometown. Bouldin was a judge of the Circuit Court for several years before being elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-First and Twenty-Second US Congresses, serving from 1829 to 1833. He was defeated for reelection in 1832 but returned to the US House the following year to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John Randolph. On February 11, 1834, Bouldin died suddenly while delivering a eulogy for Randolph on the House floor. To date he is the only US Representative to die while addressing Congress. He was succeeded in office by his brother James Wood Bouldin. There is a cenotaph in his memory at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC.
