CANTON - James L. Norris, 77, passed away at 6:42 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Heartland Healthcare Care Center, Canton. He was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Sangamon County, the son of Orval and Lodemma Carmichael Norris. He married Rose Mary Wilson on June 12, 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Norris; five daughters, Betty Breese of Canton, Brenda of Idaho, Linda Anderson of Alburn, Christina Price of Iowa and Barbara Slater of Oklahoma; four sons, Delbert Norris of Abingdon, Robert Norris of Avon, Bill Norris of Canton and Harry Norris of Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clayton Norris. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James; and one brother.

James served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1954. He drove a truck for 30 years and he enjoyed the open road. He also farmed.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Corman Memorial Home, Avon, where family will receive friends one hour before. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his memory. The guestbook may be signed at www.cormanmh.com.
