William M. Alton, 93 of Belpre, Ohio died September 28, 2009 at the Willows Nursing Home. He was born in Walker, WV on December 7, 1915 and was the son of the late Alonzo H.. and Mary E. Knost Alton. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. He had worked for the Lecrone Benidict Co from 1937 until 1943, for the B&O Raliroad driving bus for 3 years, and driving for the Suburban Motor Freight till he retired in 1978 after 42 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Orma White Alton, a son Robert W. Alton of Columbus, GA, a daughter Mary Ellen Wittington of Parkersburg, his brother, Russell Alton of Parkersburg, two sisters, Elsie Sickelka of Tuscon, AZ, Mildred Gault of Parkersburg, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ronald Leroy Alton, two sisters, Bertha Eleanor Carnes and Gladys Mace, and a brother, Clifford Alton.

Services will be on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Jerry Caplinger and Pastor Clay Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 till 8 PM.
