Her youngest brother, Harold Dean (Buddy), died when she was 17 and she took on being the emotional mother figure for her brothers and sisters. Her brother, Raymond Edward (Shorty) remembers riding the bus with her from Haviland, KS to Salida CO during WWII and standing all the way so that the service men on the bus would be able to have a seat.
She married Jack Stanley Pyle in 1947 and became an active partner running the Pyle Ranch. Jack and Claudine had two children, Jack and Jill. To her dying day she claimed they were not named from the nursery rhyme, but Jill was never convinced. After Jack died from cancer in 1967, she continued to run the Pyle Ranch on her own.
Claudine remarried Jammie O. Butler in 1968 and took in his five children to mother as well, bringing the total of 14 children whose lives she touched as a mother figure and as an example to many others in Cub Scouts, Boys Scouts, 4-H, and school activities.
Cancer cut her life short at the age of 41 however, her spirit continues to encourage those who knew her.
