Emma Bennett Stevens, 72, died July 10 at the Bozeman Convalescent Center.

She was born at Springhill, June 10, 1909, the daughter of Noah and Lydia Bennett. They later moved to Maudlow. She spent her entire life in the Gallatin Valley.

She married the late Roy Callantine and had two sons. She then married Edward Long, who died in 1961. In 1964 she married Warren Stevens.

She worked as a ranch cook on the Madison and was later the house mother of the Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at MSU. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Christian Church, the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers, and was past president of the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Callantine of Rector, Ark., and Ralph Callantine of St. Regis; three brothers, Teddy Bennett of Helena, and Oswald and Argyle Bennett of Bozeman; seven sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hopkins of Jerome, Idaho, Mrs. Betty Conner of Three Forks, Mrs. Esther Bariether of Manhattan, Mrs. Martha McGuire, Mrs. Lillie Thompson and Mrs. Susie Dorsey, all of Bozeman; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son William Long, a sister, Lydia Christensen, a brother Wilfred N. Bennett and her parents.

Services were held Monday.
