He was a farmer in Ingham County, Michigan, where he lived his entire life. In 1916, he lived in Onondaga; he had 3 horses and 20 cattle and a dairy farm. As of 1918 he drove a Ford.

In the late 1920s, Henry moved to Leslie and later to downtown Lansing where he purchased a house at 331 1/2 Washington Avenue. He worked for the WPA in the late 1930s, for RE Olds auto plant in Lansing, and did some interstate trucking, transporting all kinds of goods such as beets and muslin across the Midwest.
