At the time of his death, he was a constable, living in the community of Punkin Center between Maud and Wolf. He was shot by hijackers about l mile south of Bowlegs. He was married to Saretha Jane Sanford and was survived by children Jesse, Willie, Allen, Denman, Alpha,and Tollie.

1/12/1929 Bandit Victim Buried (Saturday) Wewoka, Jan. 11. – Funeral services were conducted in Seminole for D.T. Palmer, 58 years old, who was killed Tuesday when he attempted to arrest three alleged bandits near Maud. Interment took place in the Wewoka cemetery. Palmer was a constable in the Pumpkin Center community. (THE OKLAHOMAN)
