Maynard L. Brashear Nov. 15, 1921 June 2, 2001 Maynard Leo Brashear, 79, of Bedford died at 7:55 p.m. Saturday at Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford, following a lengthy illness. Born in Sonora, Ky., he was the son of MacDonald and Gonzella (Stewart) Brashear. He was twice married, first to Geneva Richardson, and then to Edna Brown in 1945, who died in 1997. He was a retired truck driver for Sims Motor Transport. He also worked for Evans Stone Mill, Ed's Lawn & Garden Center, Simpson Trailer Repair, E&R Fabricating, Younger Trailer Repair and J.L.S. Contracting. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of Bedford Senior Citizens and Teamsters Union. Survivors include four daughters: Marsha Brown, Shirley Pace and Rita Moore, all of Bedford, and Helen Hughes of Cleveland, Ohio; four sons: Paul Brashear of Radcliff, Ky., and Thomas, Johnny and Dennis Brashear, all of Bedford; four brothers: Douglas and Haskell Brashear, both of Elizabethtown, Ky., Carl Brashear of Virginia Beach, Va., and Edward Brashear of Indianapolis; three sisters: Florine Harris, Leatta English and Norma Moore, all of Elizabethtown, Ky.; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nettie Ray; one son, Steve; and one grandchild, Karen. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Day & Carter Mortuary, with Rev. B.T. Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday.
