Lewis Miller was the father-in-law to Thomas Edison from Edison's second marriage to Mina Miller. They were married at the Lewis Miller mansion in Akron, Ohio which still stands to this day. Lewis Miller was born in Greentown, Stark County, Ohio. Occupations included plasterer and teacher between 1846 and 1851. In 1851, he became a member of the Ball, Aultman & Co. They manufactured stoves, thrashers, reapers and plows. In 1864, he founded the Aultman, Miller & Co. and began producing farm equipment. He also created the Buckeye Mower & Reaper and the Table-Rake and became the co-founder of the Buckeye Mower & Reaper Works in Akron, Ohio along with John R. Buchtel. Miller was an Akron area board member of the school system for many years. He was also a member of Allegheny College, Mount Union College and Ohio Wesleyan University. He founded the first Sunday School at the First M.E. Church where he was the superintendant. He was also a member of the Akron City Council. He married Mary Valinda Alexander of Plainfield, Ill. on Sept. 16, 1853 and they had 11-children.
