William E. Voelz
William E. Voelz, 64, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Columbus and lifelong resident of Bartholomew County.
He was born Oct. 8, 1937, in Columbus. His parents were C. Ed and Clarabell (White) Voelz. He married Patricia L. (Lewis) Voelz on June 17, 1970, in Taylorsville. She survives. Other survivors include five sons, Jeff Voelz, Bill Voelz, Tony Voelz and Wade Hooten, all of Columbus, and Ray Hooten of Franklin; two daughters, Cathryn L. Boilanger of Columbus and Letty E. Greer of Franklin; a sister, Patricia Sandlin of Light House Point, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son.
He retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 29 years of service.
He was a member of Sardinia Baptist Church, High Point Masonic Lodge 755 F&AM, North Vernon Eastern Star 183, Murat Temple of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Moose Lodge of Columbus and Cummins Creak Club.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1955.
The Rev. Marvin Arnett will conduct a service at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m., followed by an Eastern Star service.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery at Columbus.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hospice Building Fund or Bartholomew Humane Society through the funeral home
