Services were held on Saturday, March 1, 1997, at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield. Rev. Heidi Revelo officiated the burial service at the Litchfield Cemetery. Casket bearers were Brad Slocum, Ed Lovejoy, Danny Dale, Tom Porter, Todd Holmberg, Fred Unick, Bob Unick, Bill Unick, Dallas Hardy, Danny Hardy, Glen Fink, and Jim Scott.
Maebelle Eastabrooks was born August 28, 1899, in Sherman County, NE, to Henry and Saddie (Knapp) Schulz. She was educated in Litchfield.
She married Vernon R. Eastabrooks on June 28, 1922, in Kearney. The couple made their home in the Litchfield area. Vernon died on February 13, 1972. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna for one year.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Women's Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge for 74 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Willa Vee Unick of Pleasanton and Sara (Sally) Collier of Eufaula, OK, fifteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one daughter, one son and one great-grandson.
