David Clyde Beattie was born on 21 Mar 1892 in Andrew County, Missouri. He married Lula Pearle Van Fossan on 29 Jul 1914 at Bolckow in Andrew County, Missouri.3 Cens-1920 14 Jan 1920 David and Lula farmed land in Platte township (Andrew County) following their marriage. In 1920 they were enumerated with their eldest son, Harvey, age 3.4 A second son died at birth in late 1918. Cens-1930 11 Apr 1930 By 1920 the family had grown to include 2 more children: Bobby (4) and Mary (2). David and Lula's farm was reported to be worth $7,600. The family owned a radio, one of the questions unique to the 1930 census.5 Migration In the early 1940s David and Lula moved west, settling in the San Francisco, California, area.
