Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Allie Bergeaux, 54 , of Basile who died in Jennings American Legion Hospital. Burial followed in the Tee-Mamou Cemetery .

A native of Evangeline , Allie was a veteran of World War ll and a farmer.

Allie served in the United States Army during World War II from May 1941 to October 1945. He was inducted at Camp Livingston, Louisiana amd assigned to Headquarters Company Service Command Unit IV. He completed Basic Training-Military Police Training-Truck Driver LT. He drove a supply truck carting gasoline from the supply dump to regiment. He drove in convoys, blackouts and under combat conditions. He performed protective maintenance on vehicles.

He fought in Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the following major military medals/honors: Drivers Badge; Bar SS; Rifle Combat Infantryman Badge; European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Cam Ribbon with three stars; and the American Defense Service Medal. He was ranked Tecnician 5 at discharge.

Survivors include his widow, Ivy LeJeune Bergeaux,of Basile; one step-son Lawrence Bergeron, Jr. of Basile ; one step-daughter Mrs. Phil McMillin of Welsh; his mother Mrs. Angelina Bergeaux of Evangeline; two brothers, Howard and Clifton Bergeaux both of Evangeline; five sisters Mrs. Jerry Wade of New Iberia, Mrs Lloyd Simar, Mrs. Attie Hebert, and Mrs. Morris Miller all of Evangeline and Mrs. Ulysses Fruge of Jennings and five grandchildren.
