Candido Lozada, 74, of Dunkirk died peacefully Wednesday morning (March 3, 2010) at home

following a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 21, 1935 in Cidra, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Pedro and Rosa (Rivera) Lozada. Mr. Lozada was a retired employee of the former True Temper Corporation in Dunkirk. Candido had been a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church

and enjoyed doing mechanical repairs on cars, building things from spare parts and playing Dominos. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Higinia (Vega) Lozada, whom he married Jan. 10, 1959; and their children Ida (Donald) Hairston of Georgia, Nancy (Robert) York of Fredonia,

Jeanette (Jose) Morales of Dunkirk, Maria Pagan of North Carolina, Candido (Tess) Lozada of New York, Rebecca (Eddie) Cordero-Ruiz of Gerry, NY and Andrea (Carlos) Cordero-Gallo of Texas. 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.
