The deceased was born August 8, 1861, in Wayne Township, a son of Layton and Louise Granlee Stewart, deceased, and was twice married. His first wife, Mrs. Frances Phillips Stewart, died in 1892, while his second wife, Mrs. Martha E. Hixenbaugh Stewart, survives, at home. Besides his widow he is also survived by four children: Mrs. Daisy Roberts, of Waynesburg; Mrs. Ina Brewer and Mrs. Delphia Headlee, of Pine Bank, and Mrs. Sanford (Linnie) Fox, of Kirby. Nineteen grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Verna Cole, of Waynesburg, survive.
Mr. Stewart was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and also of the Hoover's Run Grange and the I. O. O. F. Lodge of Kuhntown.
