John Blair Morgan, Sr., 74, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, May 17, 1933 and was raised in Fort Thomas, Ky., and Birmingham, Ala.
He was educated at Ramsey High School and Shades Valley High School in Birmingham. He graduated with a BS degree from the University of Alabama. He was employed with the Colgate Palmolive Company for over 30 years as an Area Sales Manager. He was also a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the University of Alabama Alumni Association.
He was a US Army veteran, serving his time in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Morgan and Ethel Mitchell Morgan.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Kay Trafton Morgan of Destin, Fla.; sons, Blair Morgan and wife, Nancy of Destin, Fla., Bill Morgan and wife, Tay of Jackson; and daughter, Leigh Morgan of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Meggie and Cossar Morgan of Jackson; one brother, Charles Morgan, Sr. and his wife, Camille of Destin, Fla. and one nephew and several nieces.
John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling with the Colgate Palmolive retirees on annual trips after his retirement as well as deep sea fishing.
He was an avid Alabama fan spending many weekends in Tuscaloosa watching sporting events. Roll Tide!
A time of visitation will be held at St Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church in Destin, Fla., from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. today with a memorial service to follow.
A Graveside Service will be held in Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday, September 2, at 3 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery at 18 Oxmoor Rd.
Rideout Valley Chapel is handling the arrangements in Birmingham, Ala.
