Elizabeth Ellen Payton Green, the daughter of Walter Payton and Sarah Harvey, was born on August 17, 1823 in Grayson County, Kentucky. She was the first wife of Squire Green, who was born there on July 18, 1825. They were the parents of: William W. Green (b. 13 Apr 1847), Margaret A. Green (b. 2 Aug 1852 and her twin (who died the next day on 3 Aug 1852). Elizabeth died at the age of 31 years and 9 days on August 26, 1854. She was buried in the McCandless Cemetery on Spring Lick Road east of Yeaman, Grayson County, Kentucky. After her death Squire married Susan A. Fentress, the daughter of Elijah Fentress and Priscilla Landrum. Squire Green died at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 3 days on June 21, 1876.
