A resident of Lima 17 years, Ashcroft had been an organist, playing in many Lima churches since coming here. He was a native of Fostoria.
Surviving are his widow, Donna; a son, Wendell B. Jr., student at Bowling Green State university, and his mother, Mrs. Ella Ashcroft, Hume.
Private funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chiles and Son funeral home. The Rev. John D. Gregory, Celina, will officiate and burial will be in Ada Woodlawn cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted, and the money used for the care of crippled children.
