Sister Flora Santel, ASC, 79, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Ruma Center, Ruma, Ill., born on Oct. 29, 1930, in Damiansville, Ill., passed away at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the community center in Ruma, Ill.
She made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1959, and final profession on July 1, 1957.
Sister Flora taught primary grades in Mount Carmel, Ill., from 1957 to 1961, and Fort Dodge, Iowa from 1961 to 1967. Most of her active ministry was in parish work as a director of religious education and as pastoral associate. Some of the places of work were Rolla, Mo., from 1982 to 1984, West Plains, Mo., from 1991 to 1995, and Taylorville, Ill., from 1996 to 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen, nee Wuebbels, Santel; three brothers, Vincent, Frank and John; and two sisters, Olivia and Mary.
Surviving are her sister, Catherine; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma, Ill.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma, Ill., with Father Clyde Grogan officiating and reflections by Sister Mary Catherine Clark, ASC.
Interment will be in the convent cemetery, Ruma, Ill.
