Eddie grew up to marry Jennings Wesley Hyatt. They had one child, Richard Jennings Hyatt, called "Dickie". Jennings died tragically in a furniture factory accident, and Eddie lived with her parents until some time after she married her second husband, Samuel Sylvester Depew. They also had a son Samuel, affectionately known as "Sammy". Sammy was born with problems which required several surgeries, and Eddie thought she was bearing up well until her older son, who was in service at that time was diagnosed with cancer. She travelled to Nebraska to be with her firstborn when he died on Veteran's Day, 1950.
Eddie worked for Poteat's Market and Cornwell Gift Shop for many years. When her sister Mabel became a widow, she asked her into her home. She was a generous person and loving mother, and despite the hardships of her own life she cared about others. She took care of her father until he died at age 95. She spent time with her relatives young and old, and they always felt welcome in Eddie's home. Her grandchildren Clay and Diana were a joy to her.
Eddie and husband Sam died within the same year and have been very much missed by family and friends.
