He was mustered into Revolutionary Service in the 4th Regiment of the Line as a private. He obtained his one hundred acres for federal service from a William Tuthill to whom the tract was first assigned. This tract remains in the family today. The farm has been designated as a Century Farm, it was first settled in 1790.
