Willard E. "Willie" Kienbaum, 86, of Elkhart Lake, died Thursday afternoon, June 17, 2010.

He died surrounded by his loving family in the homestead that he was born in on April 11, 1924, son of the late Fred and Mary (Kattreh) Kienbaum. Willard attended Kiel schools and was a graduate of Kiel High School. On June 12, 1946 he married Isabell Faust at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He worked at Foremost Dairy/Land O' Lakes in Kiel for 36 years, retiring in 1986. He also farmed the homestead. Willard was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel where he belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters, holding the title of Chief Ranger for many years and the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Kiel Horseshoe league and at the age of 82 was league champion, a member of the Kiel and New Holstein bowling leagues and a senior card club. Willard's number one priority in his life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid turkey and deer hunter and enjoyed being outdoors and cutting wood.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Isabell of rural Elkhart Lake; nine children, Bob (Marilyn) Kienbaum, Jim Kienbaum, Mike (Jean) Kienbaum, Stanley Kienbaum, all of Kiel, Gary (Jane) Kienbaum of New Holstein, Andy Kienbaum and special friend, Shelley Olocki of Elkhart Lake, Mary (Dan) Sohn, Deb Kienbaum, and Randy (Amy) Kienbaum, all of Kiel. He is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Kienbaum and Marie Kienbaum, both of Kiel, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter (Jane), Harvey, Jerome, Roland, and Arno Kienbaum; three sisters, Marie (Henry) Wittrock, Evangeline (Matt) Williams, Elaine Kienbaum; and one daughter-in-law, Sara Kienbaum.

The Funeral Mass for Willard will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2010 with Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. and Deacon Pat Knier officiating. Entombment will take place in Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth. Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel is assisting the family.
