FRED MAHAFFEY
Services are to be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Denton Funeral Home for Fred Mahaffey, 80, a North 11th Street resident. Mr. Mahaffey died Monday (Nov 22, 1993)at his home. The Rev. Bob Bacon of First Baptist Church is to offi ciate the service. The family plans to receive friends at 405 N. 11th St. Burial will be at Carlsbad Cemetery.
Shannon Mahaffey, Gaylen Mahaffey, Kelley Mahaffey, Burl Richards and Jim Grannis are to serve as pallbearers.
Fred Mahaffey was born June 22, 1913, in Knox Co Texas. He moved from Levelland Texas, to Portales, New Mexico in 1930 and then to Gardena, California in 1942.
He worked in California shipyards until 1946, when he moved to Carlsbad. Mahaffey worked as a home building contractor until he opened Texas Street Lumber Co with his father and brother in 1954. Survivors include two brothers, Oran Mahaffey of Artesia & Wilton E. Mahaffey of
Albany, Oregon; 3 sisters, Mable Wallace of Artesia, Berniece Garner of Farmington, New Mexico and Zyl Mahaffey of Carlsbad; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
