Joan C. Elliott, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peace-fully in her sleep on February 7, 2008.

She was born on November 15, 1927 in Ann Arbor, MI the only child of the late Marvin J. and Florence C. (Schaller) Slater.

Joan graduated from the University of Michigan in June 1949 and married her husband of 58 years, Pete Elliott, on June 14, 1949.

Pete's college and professional football coaching career led them to many homes and friends throughout the country including stops in Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, California, Illinois, Florida and Missouri. Joan and Pete settled in Canton in 1979 when Pete became the Executive Director of the Professional Football Hall of Fame. Joan was a fan and student of the game of football beginning with her experience as a clerk and co-worker with Tom Harmon and other University of Michigan football greats in her mother's bookstore on the University of Michigan campus.

She attended John Knox Presbyterian Church and was a member of Line & Design Garden Club, Aultman Women's Auxiliary, Junior League of Canton, and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Peter R. Elliott; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Cheryl Elliott of Ann Arbor, MI and David and Peggy Elliott of Boardman, OH; and four granddaughters, Catherine Elliott, Jennifer Elliott, Christina (Janson) Jacobsen and Courtney Elliott
