OBITUARY :
MAURICE W. FREEMAN, who would have been 55 years old today, died at 5 p.m. yesterday at Franklin Farms where he had been a patient since May 1958.
While working at the Samuel G. Dixon State Hospital in April, 1957, he slipped on a loading platform, breaking his right leg. He never recovered due to a bone infection and in 1958 suffered several strokes and was confined to the Waynesboro Hospital for two months.
He was born in Mont Alto, son of the late John W. and Ida Pogue Freeman. All of his life was lived at Mont Alto.
He was first employed at Landis Tool Company, later at Publix Shirt Company, Mont Alto, and last at the Samuel G. Dixon State Hospital.
Mr. Freeman was a member of the Methodist Church, Mont Alto Fire Department.
He is survived by one brother, David L. "Terry" Freeman, Mont Alto, three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m from the Grove Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. James Schell. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
